My Story

Hello! I'm Heather Welch, Founder and CEO of Infinity Inc. I've been working towards this mission for over twenty years. I dreamed of being an entrepreneur for as long as I can remember. I sold cherry tomatoes and plants at farmer's markets; imagined expanding my kool-aid/candy stand (in the middle of some tall trees at my grandparent's house), into a small restaurant. I couldn't understand why my neighborhood friend and her little brother couldn't imagine it too! 😁 Growing up, I always looked for ways of earning money: newspaper route, yard work, babysitting, odd jobs, even a little newspaper column as a teenager. Which leads me to my other passions: education, journalism, government, and history!

Although I wasn't homeschooled, my mother was my greatest teacher! She inspired me. In SO many ways. Especially in being the best mother I could be. My son has always been my sunshine and now he's made me a Gram with his own little ray of sunshine. 🥰 She taught me to respect my family heritage, and the elderly. She helped me internalize the humility of being born an American; a deep reverence for the founding of our country, its leaders, and the government protected by our sacrificial soldiers. That although I have rights, as such, they are more so, responsibilities. Especially those which will protect our freedoms...our future. One great-grandfather fought as a British soldier in World War I, a grandfather who fought in the Pacific for the British in World War II, and another grandfather who fought with the 101st in the European Theater. I took theirs and others' service to heart. 💜 I still do. I will always be grateful and strive to honor and serve them.

She taught me the importance of unbiased journalism. Something that seems to have eluded our society today. No matter how idealistic I may sound, I know a secret. But I'll share it here. We need MORE idealism. There's no such thing as perfection, only progress. The proof of progress is education. We must choose to be life-long learners and revel in the beauty of nature, the self-immersion in a GOOD book, to be open-minded (especially regarding other cultures), to vote! Voting is our way of expressing our beliefs. If we don't like it, work to change it. Her mother inspired her. And although her mother died when she was young, she had a significant impact on her desire to read and learn. My great-grandmother was a pioneer school teacher. I feel them all within me, especially when I really connect with the kids, at the Schoolseum.

I've had the privilege of a few incredible mentors. They also inspired me to fight for my dreams; not to settle for anything less. That the price of a book is so little compared to the life experiences the author shares within. For so many years, I couldn't "pick" which passion to follow as a career. I felt so conflicted because I could not see myself choosing only one. In the fall of 2003 I was introduced to a life-changing strengths assessment, which became the foundation for orchestrating my personal mission. I believe they illuminate our life's purposes. Yes, plural. Not singular. We are too complex as creatures. We have multiple purposes. While I have a deep, personal faith as a Christian, I respect everyone's right to their own beliefs.

Life is simple. We complicate it. Treat others the way we want to be treated. Wouldn't THAT solve pretty much, all of the world's problems?
